Wondering What a Podcast is ?
A Podcast is simply a recorded broadcast saved in mp3
or other digital format for download to your computer at a later time.
Dozens of churches, ministries and other folks have started
making podcasts of their shows and broadcasts so that if you miss it,
your computer can automatically download it. Using RSS technology (the
same technology that allows you to subscribe to feeds from blogs), you
can now subscribe to sites with podcasts and download them automatically.
The links on the front page under Podcasts I Recommend
are the direct subscription files to Podcasts.
Things you need to subscribe to a podcast:
1. The link to the subscription files for the podcasts
(I provide these on the front page).
2. Podcast software. I recommend you download one of these
(click on link to go to download page):
iTunes (free from Apple and it organizes and plays your MP3 podcast
files)
- available for Win2000, XP and Mac OS X
Juice
(formerly known as iPodder)
- available for Win2000, XP and Mac OS X
Instructions for iTunes users (sorry Juice folks, you're
on your own, but the instructions are probably simple)
1) Click on the RSS/Podcast link on the front page for
the Podcast you'd like to subscribe to
2) copy the URL from the new window that opens
2a) Alternatively, you can simply right-click (or click
and hold for Mac users or Ctrl-Click for Mac users) the link and copy
the URL
3) in iTunes go to Advanced>Subscribe to Podcast
4) paste the URL into the window
5) click "OK."
The rest is pretty much self-explanatory.
